Vegan Krispie Treat Bears

Well, we're about three weeks in to the school year and I'm already losing my creative streak when it comes to making school lunches! I was really excited when Shapeify reached out to me to try their new food molds because I am already feeling uninspired. The first thing that I made was our favorite vegan krispie treats because that seemed like the easiest and funnest option to test these little bears out! And it was easy and fun!

I plan to try and figure out how to make rice balls in the bears and other more healthy treats for the lunch box. But I wanted to share my recipe for vegan krispie treats and my thoughts on these yummy little cuties.

I've been a lot pickier lately with brands that I work with and Shapeify is just the kind of brand that I want to support. Shapeify is a woman owned brand, started by two friends. And the molds are made out of recycled, BPA free plastic.

On to the recipe:

You will need:

7 cups of krispie cereal
7 tbsp of vegan butter ( I like Miyokos but Earth Balance also works)
1 bag of vegan marshmallows (Trader Joe's are vegan)
Cooking spray
A fun food mood like the Teddy Bears from Shapeify

Melt the butter in a large pot. Once it's melted, add the marshmallows and stir until they are also melted. Add the cereal and stir until it is all combined.

Spray your molds and and pack the mixture into the molds. Pack it tightly for the best results. Once the molds are packed, it's super easy to pop the bears right out. I put mine in the fridge to help the bears set into their cute shapes.

I wasn't sure how easy it would be to mess around with super sticky melted mashmallows and greasy bear molds, but it was quite easy. The molds are hard and sturdy and that made for an easy time filling and emptying them!

We didn't decorate ours because we were too excited to wait to make the treats. But next time I am going to put candy eyes on them and get more creative with them.  I'm also thinking of adding some pumpkin spice seasoning to them this fall! yum!
